Which Pelican Series Case is Right for You?

All Pelican Protector, Storm, Air, and Vault series cases are IP67 certified, meaning they are all dustproof and waterproof in depths of up to one meter for longer than 30 minutes. Strength

When it comes to strength, Pelican’s Protector series provides the best overall protection. Armed with two-step open and close latches (double latches), Protector cases form the best seal. The Protector case is made with copolymer polypropylene for rugged strength, which adds a bit of weight. The proprietary polypropylene formula provides the maximum possible power due to a unique foaming process during production.

Latches

The difference between the two-step double-throw latches of the Protector case versus the press and pull latches of the Storm, Air, and Vault cases is the closure pressure generated by each latch type. The double-throw latches generate a more significant pressure seal than the press and pull latches. The Protector’s double latch system provides greater protection, but the Storm, Air, and Vault series cases are nearly effortless to open.

Weight

Pelican Air series cases are the lightest of the collection. The HPX resin of the Storm case and PE resin of the Vault make both about 20% lighter than a Protector case of a similar size, while the Pelican Air’s next-generation HPX resin (HPX2™) makes the case up to 40% lighter than the other Pelican series.

Mobility

Many of the Protector, Storm, Air, and Vault Pelican series models are built with wheels, and a retractable extension trolley handle to allow you to pull the case as it rolls along the ground. The Protector series includes several models that utilize more significant, stronger wheels suitable for rough terrain. The Pelican Air’s lightweight design and easy mobility make it ideal for flights and perfect for carrying on because it’s easier to move around since it weighs significantly less.
